450SLC

The Mercedes-Benz 450 SLC, a part of the greater Mercedes-Benz Series 107 line of 1971 to 1981, was a coupe that debuted in 1972. It incorporated a V8 engine mated to a three-speed automatic transmission and could produce 225 horsepower initially; after 1975, engine output was rated at 217 horsepower. A distinctive feature of the car: a subtly styled front spoiler at the rear, lower end of the front apron.

A variant, the Mercedes-Benz 450 SLC 5.0, appeared in 1978. It had an all-aluminum, light-alloy V8 engine that shelled out 240 horsepower, plus a three-speed auto gearbox. Features of note: an aluminum hood, trunk, and bumpers, a more discreet front spoiler, and a black plastic rear spoiler. This model became the Mercedes-Benz 500 SLC afterward.
