Mercedes-Benz 450 SL was a roadster in Mercedes-Benz Series 107, a prominent member of the Mercedes-Benz SL-Class. While the latter debuted in 1971 and was offered until 1985, after which the Mercedes-Benz 500 SL succeeded it, the sports car itself only ran until 1980.
A four-stroke V8 engine capable of 4520 cc displacement came standard, and paired with a three-speed automatic transmission, it could achieve 225 horsepower (217 horsepower in late 1975 and later). The model also had electronically controlled Bosch D-Jetronic fuel injection, which, by early 1976, had been replaced by a mechanically controlled Bosch K-Jetronic system. Distinctive features included an unobtrusive front spoiler attached to the rear lower end of the car's front apron and helped air circulate around the radiator.
