280E
Shopping online for parts for a Mercedes-Benz 280 E? You probably own one of four cars from between 1975 and 1993, and our Mercedes-Benz parts store has what you need for it.
The first is the Mercedes-Benz 280 E sedan from Mercedes-Benz Series 123 (W 123 E 28), which ran from 1975 to 1985, It incorporated a four-stroke, in-line, six-cylinder engine with two overhead camshafts, plus Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection and a choice of either a four- or a five-speed manual transmission or a four-speed automatic. The engine was capable of 177 horsepower (185 horsepower after model-year 1978).
The second is the Mercedes-Benz 280 E four-door from Mercedes-Benz Series 124 (W 124 E 28), which debuted in 1992 and was offered until 1993. The car had similar engine specs, but featured an adjustable intake cam, microprocessor-controlled fuel injection, and an emission control system with a closed-loop, three-way catalyst. It had a choice of either a five-speed manual or automatic transmission or a four-speed auto, and together, the engine and gearbox delivered 197 horsepower.
The third is the Mercedes-Benz 280 E model with the long 3600mm wheelbase from the same series, available during the same model years. Its motor, cam, fuel-injector, and emissions system specs were similar, but its transmission options were amended to include a five-speed manual or a four-speed auto.
The last is the chassis-only version of the Mercedes-Benz 280 E long-wheelbase model, designed for building custom cars like ambulances and hearses. Also part of Mercedes-Benz Series 124 (VF 124 E 28), it was offered in '92 and '93 likewise, and had the same engine, transmission, fuel injection, and emissions control system specs as its long-wheelbase sibling.
Whichever you've got, you shouldn't trust any repair job or restoration to anything less than genuine Mercedes-Benz parts. Just as importantly, you should buy them here, not at an aftermarket Mercedes-Benz parts store.
