Mercedes-Benz 190 Db was a car in the greater Mercedes-Benz Series 121 lineup (with the designation W 121 D II). Although the "Ponton Mercedes" family to which it belonged ran from 1959 to 1962, the model was only offered until 1961, when the Mercedes-Benz 190 Dc succeeded it. Two other variants were available during its career, too -- both chassis-only models, but one with a two-door partial body and the other with a four-door partial body.
An in-line, four-cylinder diesel engine came standard, and paired with a four-speed manual transmission, it could achieve 50 horsepower. The features that defined it were many. One was a flatter hood, another was a radiator grille set wider and lower, and yet another was enlarged bumpers (the front ones without guards). Others included updated taillights sporting reflectors, several critical safety enhancements, a padded dashboard with partially recessed and retractable controls, and a padded steering wheel. Some distinctive ones: under-window chrome strips and chrome-plated rain runnels.
