450SEL

Mercedes-Benz 450 SEL is a model nomenclature representing three luxury car models in Mercedes-Benz Series 116 and the Mercedes-Benz S-Class.

The first is a "base" model in the 116 series (V 116 E 45), and the second is a special protection version of it. Both were offered between 1973 and 1980, and both had V8 engines that put out 225 horsepower (217 horsepower briefly, from late 1975 to early 1978). The third was the Mercedes-Benz 450 SEL 6.9 from the 116 series (V 116 E 69). It was available between 1975 and 1980 and featured a 286-horsepower V8. All three models' engines paired with three-speed automatic transmissions.
