450SE

The Mercedes-Benz 450 SE was an early Mercedes-Benz S-Class sedan, part of the greater Mercedes-Benz Series 116 line of cars. It replaced Mercedes-Benz Series 108 and 109 and ran from 1972 to 1980. More specifically, there was a "base" 450 SE available during those years, plus a special protection version offered until 1978.

Both models had a V8 engine mated to a three-speed automatic transmission. It produced 225 horsepower from model years 1972 to 1975 and between model years 1978 and 1980; between 1975 and 1978, however, the car's engine put out 217 horsepower. Features included double wishbone front and twist-beam axle rear suspensions, front and rear torsion bar stabilizers, and power steering, plus front and rear disc brakes and steel wheels. An ABS system and light-alloy wheels were optional.
