The Mercedes-Benz 250 was part of the Mercedes-Benz Series 114 line of "Stroke Eight" sedans. The base model was offered between 1967 and 1972. It had an in-line, six-cylinder engine that put out 130 horsepower, and one could choose among four- and five-speed manual and four-speed auto transmissions. Notable features ranged from double front bumpers to a diagonal swing axle that significantly improved performance without affecting handling.

There were two variants. One, the Mercedes-Benz 250, ran from 1970 to 1973. It incorporated a 2.8-liter, in-line, six-cylinder engine capable of 130 horsepower and had the same transmission options. The other, also a Mercedes-Benz 250 model, was offered from 1973 to 1976. It was revised before the release; although the car had the same engine and transmission specs as its namesake, it no longer had the double bumpers. Other distinctive features included exterior rear mirrors that were adjustable from inside the car, decorative, dirt-repellent A-pillar trim, profiled taillights, a rear-window roof rail, and a lower and wider radiator grill.
