240D

Mercedes-Benz 240 D was a model in the Mercedes-Benz Series 123 line of sedans. It replaced the Mercedes-Benz Series 114 and 115 models dubbed "Stroke Eight," and came in standard and long-wheelbase variants.

The standard-wheelbase model ran from 1976 to 1985. It packed an in-line, four-cylinder diesel engine that put out 65 horsepower, and one had a choice among four- and five-speed manual and four-speed automatic transmissions. The wheelbase measured 2795 mm.

The long-wheelbase model was available from 1977 to 1985. It had the same engine and transmission options, but the wheelbase measured 3425 mm. From 1978 to 1980, the line got a bump in power, to 72 horsepower. It was succeeded by Mercedes-Benz Series 124, which came out in 1984.
