The Mercedes-Benz 230 SL was a two-seater, "grand touring" (GT) sports car, part of Mercedes-Benz Series 113, which ran from 1963 to 1971. It was nicknamed "Pagoda SL" after its shape, and replaced both the Mercedes-Benz 190 SL and the Mercedes-Benz 300 SL. The model itself, however, a roadster and coupe duo, was available between 1963 and 1967. It incorporated a 150-horsepower, in-line, six-cylinder engine, and one could get either a four-speed manual, five-speed ZF S 520 manual, or four-speed auto transmission. One of its most distinctive features, though, was its removable hood.
